Delay in billing to insurance

I want to meet the deductible soon. The services are not billing the insurances soon. They are getting a pre auth estimation and asking me to pay upfront as I didn't meet the deductible.

I really want all the services to be billed soon so that I can see on the insurance portal that I have met the deductible.

That procedure sounds fishy to me. I can't understand why they insist on collecting from you first, other than a co-pay. Is your plan very slow to process claims? Most clinics/hospitals have enough reserves that they can afford to wait. It causes me to wonder how promptly you would be reimbursed once your deductible was met.

If you are in the US, it is possible that your state insurance commissioner's office could help. Look on line and see whether there is a form to fill out or phone number to call. When you have coverage but are being denied access to benefits due to questionable billing practices, that just doesn't seem right.

Another possible approach is to appeal to the ombudsman for the facility. Those individuals are trained to be patient advocates. Perhaps there is a social worker connected with the finance department who might offer advice.Take notes on who you talk to and when so that you can defend yourself should they become even more unreasonable.
