MRI and nervous

I have an indention on my left breast. Had a diag mammo done and US. US showed focal shadowing with no corresponding lesion and mammo was clear. They ordered a biopsy. Went for biopsy and the radiologist said she could only see the area of shadowing from one view on US and did a targeted mammo which was clear. Radiolost said she wanted a surgeon to give a second opinion before they proceeded with a biospsy. She felt an MRI would give a clearer picture of the area. Surgeon concurred that MRI was needed.

I have an MRI for tomorrow. I DON’T have dense tissue. Just fatty breast tissue. Is there still a possibility this can be cancer? Even with 2 clear mammo’s and only shadowing on the 2 US? Should I have went ahead with the biopsy even if there wasn’t a clearly definedtarget?

Thanks for any information or similar experiences. I’m just nervous about it and am not sure if I’m doing everything correctly. Thank you.

The MRI will give the clear picture. I think your doctors are trying to do the least invasive procedure that will help with a diagnosis and locate the area that will need a biopsy if it comes to that. Hang in there . Sounds like you're in good hands mixed with compassion. J

    Thank you joE777.

They have been very nice to me and explained how all of this works. It’s still just a little overwhelming. I think all the waiting for tests and Dr appt. gives one too much time to worry about what if ‘s.

The Surgeon mentioned Lobular cancer can “hide in plain sight” and doesn’t always show up on imaging? She wants to be safe and said there may be nothing at all or something benign which was more likely the case. It’s nerve wracking and overwhelming to say the least.

MRI went well. They said I should have results in 5-7 days. Fingers crossed all is benign.

Radiologist released my results to the surgeon. But the Dr hasn’t called yet. I’m nervous and really would like to know. Maybe it’s a good thing they haven’t called. Maybe that means it’s benign. No news is good news? Or I hope that’s how it works.
