I got dx with bc.

In addition to bc, on the ultrasound the docs saw this multiple Non caseating granulomata of uncertain etilology or significance at 6:00 radial. These are also patchy nodular densities.

I had MRI and will soon know something on that may be.

My research says since I have latent tb which was dx in 2004 and didn't take any treatment yet on that, may be I got breast tb.

If that is true or not I have to take 6 months tb meds which are strong on liver and have to take along with the hormone pill post bc surgery. Also wondering what would they do on the existing granulomata. Does MRI fully reveal or do they need to do biopsy.

Please post your thoughts on this Non caseating granulomata

Different bacteria manifest their infections in different ways. Non-caseating granulomata is the classic for TB.

    Others include:

    • Leprosy (a relative of TB)
    • Schistosomiasis. ...(foreign travel?)
    • Histoplasmosis. ...(a common fungus seen in the lungs)
    • Cryptococcosis. ...(less common infx)
    • Cat-scratch disease. ...(have a cat?)
    • Rheumatic Fever. ...
    • Sarcoidosis.

But if you have been previously diagnosed with TB then this might be TB (mycobacterium sp.) The question is whether or not it is active. I would assume they would remove or sample a granuloma in the breast and try to culture it which might take some time. If you are immune suppressed for any reason it may not be the more common TB bug and the treatment may vary from the usual but I am not 100% sure of that. If you are, then your docs need to know if they don't already.

I have seenTB in the breast before. It can look a lot like breast cancer on a mammogram.

After a biopsy I might have to go see a pulmonologist I believe.

With all these my surgery for bc is getting delayed I guess.

Awaiting on MRI results as well.

Today met onco. First my onco didn't get report on non caseating granulomata thing. I showed to her which is on my phone.

And when I asked if it is breast tb, she told she never heard of it only lung one. But I told on the latent tb one. Alas!

May be I can let my breast surgeon know as she was asking if I ever had any bacteria.

In other case, when I told the breast surgeon I have pcos with very irregular few periods and last year it was very prompt and regular. Does it have anything to do with bc. She told she doesn't know much about pcos related bc. Alas!

No active tb. After the surgery and radiation I can have four months latenttb treatment which is just one fourth dosage of actual one. Doc told nothing to worry and it is not contagious and it is highly unlikely that it will turn as active for me.

She told she will order some other blood tests to check if any other infections are there.

She is such a lovely doc but too much info.

But definitely post surgery the lump will be sent to pathology to check for the cause of non caseating ones...
