hi, I have just had a mastectomy followed by an immediate breast reconstruction ( silicone & treated animal tissue). Is it normal for the breast to be a cup size or two smaller? Really feeling down about it as it will get smaller as the swelling goes down.

Dear Scotland, we're sorry you find yourself here for this reason, but we're glad you've found us!

We wanted to suggest until you get responses from other members here you may want to take a look at the following topic, with tons of info and advice on implants reconstruction:

I'm about a little over 2 cup sizes smaller after mastectomy/reconstruction. I'm upset about it too. I was originally told I could choose whatever size I wanted to be, but in the end I was told that due to have radiation on my cancer side and only being able to have the tissue expanders filled a few times prior to starting radiation, I could only be a certain size. I was a D cup, now I'm a full B on my cancer side (only because it's firmer due to radiation) and a B on my non-cancer side.

    Thank you for your post

Sorry to hear about your similar problem. The next part of my treatment will be chemo as I was warned & would not have had an implant, if I was going to have radiation treatment. Still waiting for my lab results.

This is my second brush with breast cancer. They think the first cancer went upwards to my milk ducks/nipple and then settled there so, second time round, it was invasive Pagets of the breast..

Nearly 2 weeks after my operations, I am feeling positive and now realise my plastic surgeon didn’t have a lot of skin to work with but have been assured that it can be rectified when I get a new nipple etc.

    Wishing you all the best
