2 small lumps on chest wall & just accepted a new job :(

Had a BMX on 12/21/17 Now have 2 small hard lumps on the same side that had DCIS grade 3, ER-/PR-, 1.4 cm.

Saw my breast surgeon today and she (not so tactfully) walked out of the room and told the intern she has to stop whatever she is doing because she can go back to that and to come now so she can feel this to compare with the US results. BS also told intern to feel the nodule and the lymph node on my chest wall !??!?!?!!!

WTH?

And to top it off I just gave my 2 weeks notice and start a new job end of the month.

I sign the paperwork next week on the morning of my US. I am feeling crazy now starting a new job with a high possibility of recurrence.

Anyone start a new job with a recurrence at the same time. Just wish I could go back and rescind my resignation. ugh

I have not experienced that situation but want to suggest that, should you be in the US and get health insurance through your employer, make sure you don't have a gap in coverage. Use COBRA if you have to - it may be expensive but you cannot afford to 'go bare' even for a couple weeks.

What a stressful situation!! My big concern would be that you wouldn't have access to FMLA protection at your new job right away. I'd be checking up on the benefits ASAP, especially if you don't have access to financial support through family.

That said, depending on the new job, things could be completely fine. Do your best not to borrow trouble, just get as informed as you can and make the best choices from the limited options available to you. That's all any of us can do. You didn't have a crystal ball, you bet on the status quo, that was a smart thing to do! You will make this work too, one way or another!

Thank you. I looked up FMLA and definitely wouldn't get pay. I don't know if they can fire me right away. This whole thing sucks for many reasons and now I have to worry about possibly being let go. Who would hire in someone that is just diagnosed with a recurrence?

Hoping all turns out benign. Just take things a day at a time. I agree with the others though about being sure there are no gaps in coverage.

Thanks KBeee, Salamandra, and vlnrph. Because of your help, I checked to see if I needed to Cobra my insurance. Fortunately I will be covered from my first date of employment. So I pushed back my ultrasound to next week. It's only a week later than originally scheduled but this way everything will be under one insurance. I am living dog years though. I have made that area sore feeling it obsessively. I can feel lots of bumps now along a line that would mimic lymph nodes across the top (just beneath the clavicle) and then continuing down the outside of my breast down the side. I have made that area sore feeling it obsessively.

So glad to hear you'll have coverage. As hard as it is, keep your hand off of the area. That will lead anything to swell.

Stop feeling around... it will drive you crazy. Start feeling around other parts of your body, like your arms, or some of your lower ribs. There are bumps everywhere! Especially along bone.

Update - I had both a deep tissue ultrasound and mammogram and they are benign. They are oily cysts - which sounds really gross but I'll take it.

Thank you for your support throughout the waiting game. I've also decided that I should switch Dr's since mine is an alarmist.
