delayed treatment. anyone?

Hi everyone!

I would love some help.
I am 33 years old and was diagnosed with invasive carcinoma on my left breast, stage 2 (3 tumours) ER + PR +, Her2 - .
I had the sentinel node negative, and had a mastectomy with reconstruction surgery in one breast (by the end of november) with lymphovascular invasion.

After that I had a an unfortunate late appointment with an oncologist that sent me to do the Oncotype Dx to check my need of doing chemo or just hormonotherapy. As it was not available in my country it delayed the start of my treatment, still waiting for the results. Possibly will start either chemo or hormonotherapy at the 10 or 11 week after surgery. Does anyone knows if this delay would cause me any harm? Was anyone in this situation? My onc prefers to wait for the results, though they are late but I am afraid any cancer cells can spread or the treatment won't be as effective.

Thank you for your help.

I think sooner is better than later but later is better than nothing.

My treatment was delayed by surgeries. Original surgery in September and two additional revisions in November. I had to be fully healed to start chemo. I just started chemo last week.

I asked my MO if the delay would be harmful and she said no. I’m having chemo because my MammaPrint came back high risk reoccurrence, Luminal B.

I am starting 5 months after my original diagnosis. And about 11 weeks after my original surgery. I’ve been told it was not going to be harmful. Hope this helps

I was worried about this too, but I talked to some doctors (one in my family) who said that the research results aren't based on patients starting treatment the day after diagnosis--many people have to wait several weeks. I know it's scary--I felt the exact same way waiting a month for my surgery, which was actually pretty fast to get it.

I have a similar diagnosis as you (just a few years older) and am waiting on the same freaking test. I wish I knew more statistics about how many of the tests come back recommending chemo. It is so hard to wait!
