Hi everyone, I am 25 and worried about some indentation/dimple on my left breast, it only shows up when I raise my arms above my head and I can only see it when I look in the mirror side on but it's like a crease down the side of my breast. I remember I first noticed it like two years ago but brushed it off and completely forgot about it until a few months ago when I noticed it again and became worried, I have really lumpy breasts too. I also have a similar indent on my right breast but it's not as big as my left breast indent. I went to see my doctor a few months ago and she did a breast exam, she said it felt like I had Fibrocystic breasts and said she didn't think the indents where anything serious because I have them on both breasts and she thinks it just because I have very large saggy breasts and Because I have been pregnant and breast fed but sent me for an ultrasound anyway, I had an ultrasound on both breasts and my lymph nodes and everything was normal, the radiologist told me he could only see normal breast tissue. So I was super happy about that but I started getting pain in my left breast about a month ago and now I'm worried again. I've been googling and reading how sometimes ultrasounds can miss cancer, I went to see my doctor about the pain and she said it's just because I have Fibrocystic breasts and the ultrasound was clear so I shouldn't worry but I'm not sure if I should try and push for a breast mri or if I'm just being overly paranoid (I have crazy health anxiety so I'm not sure if it's just my anxiety) do you guys think I should try and get a breast mri? I'm scared, I'm a single mum with a five year old daughter and I don't want to have cancer :( I have some family history of breast cancer, my maternal grandma was diagnosed at age 35 and died from it a few years later and my grandmas sister was diagnosed at age 40, sorry for the long post and thanks for reading

    Greybd,

We're so sorry you're here and worrying. You should know that it's rare for someone your age to be diagnosed with breast cancer. You've been diligent about your concerns, and your doctors have addressed these concerns. There's no reason to think the ultrasounds performed exactly as they should, and that you're perfectly fine. Stay off Dr. Google!

You mentioned your health anxiety -- have you considered speaking with your doctor about this issue? Perhaps there's something they could do to help you worry a bit less.

We hope this helps and that you feel better soon!

Hi greybd! I just wanted to let you know that I have indentions on both of my breasts and everything is clear after 2 negative mammograms and 2 negative ultrasounds. There are reasons other than cancer that you can have them but those scenarios are harder to find on the internet because most of the things you read anywhere else is gloom and doom. My doctor (who is a top notch breast oncologist where I’m from) says it’s due to lazy ligaments and nothing to worry about. I’ve seen her several times, a couple just for reassurance

Also, I too suffer from severe health anxiety and after having an honest heart to heart with my primary care dr, we agreed that I would try Celexa and counseling for my anxiety. It has helped me tremendously. Don’t be afraid to speak to your doctor about the feelings you’re having. Any doctor worth a darn will want to help you get control of what you have going on. I wish you all the best and hope you can get some control over your anxiety. I know all too well how crippling it can be! 🙂
