just diagnosed w/ Invasive ductal carcinoma with tubular
Hello All,
Had a biopsy 1/4/19 and was told at that time to prepare for it to come back as cancer so have at least had a moment to wrap my mind around it. I just received most of my pathology report back, invasive ductal carcinoma with lobular. I have no idea what any of this means? Thankfully things are moving right along fairly quickly, even had my mri today and results show it has not spread to my lymph nodes and its borderline stage 2. I'll have complete details by Monday but this is what I know so far. Can anyone provide any insight to help get me through the weekend? I meet with dr Monday to go over treatment options, clearly I'm terrified! little background on me; Im 44 years and no history thus far on my moms side of the family. My fraternal grandmother had breast cancer in her mid 60's want on to recover but ended up dying of lung caner at 81(heavy smoker). Im married with two kids 19 & 16. Thanks in advance for the advice/help, I really appreciate it.

Spend your weekend researching your options. The more you know about the treatments that will be offered to you the better you'll be at making the right decision for you. As foolish as this may sound, put on some good music you Love and dance and sing your heart out. Stay in the present as the future is not given to anyone. My prayers are with you through this tough time but trust me it will get easier.

Do you know your ER,PR, & HER2 status? If you have no nodal involvement that is a plus!

Hello! I had to edit tubular to lobular, sorry that was my error and not the report. So how does that change things, what the heck is lobular? No I don't have ER, PR or HER status yet. Hoping to get that info on Monday.

Lobular is a kind of cancer and so is ductal. Sounds like your biopsy had both in it-- sometimes there is more than one kind of Cancer.

Toyamjj: You may want to check out the "Connecting with others with similar diagnosis" section, under subtype, "LIC," where there's more of a discussion of lobular carcinoma. Best to you.

basically ductal is in the milk ducts, apparently the commonest b.c. lobular is in the lobes of the breast, and you definitely can have cancer of both types in the same breast. Not sure what difference it will make in treating you.I think hormone receptors more influential in treatments. Just know that treatment is likely to not be as bad as you imagine! The unknown is the scariest part, once you are armed with info specific to your cancer, you will get a plan in place and Get To It! Believe me you will feel a lot better once you know your plan. Agree strongly about staying active, music and dancing! Takes the nervous tension away!Well , partially😊You can do it! And by IT, I mean ANYTHING . Words of wisdom from my Mom💗
