Hello everyone,

posting this message to see if anyone else is going through the same

Completed 1st round of chemo last Friday (1/4/19), doing 4 x TC

Seems i have continuous low grade fever around 99.5-100 most of the times for last 6 days. On Day 4 night, fever shot up to 101.2, rushed to the emergency room, all blood work, x ray, flu test came fine. Discharged with a 10 day course of anti-biotic.

It seems fever is related to the chemo medicine more than anything else.

please share any related experiences.

About 5 days after my first infusion, I developed a fever of over 100.4. As instructed, I called my MO's office and was immediately sent to the hospital for blood work, urine test, and a chest xray. I was also put on antibiotics. But all the test were negative and the fever went away after a few days.

I had 6 rounds of TCHP. I had fevers after every round. Tylenol reduced the fevers and the fevers went away after a few days. I would let my MO know, but I refused to go in for test again cause otherwise I felt OK (as OK as you can feel while on chemo). My MO acknowledged that fevers were just a SE for me.

When I finished chemo, my normal body temperature became 96 degrees. After about a year my 'normal' became 97.2. I'm almost 2 years PFC and my 'normal' is still 97.2. I'm certain chemo did something to my body temperature.

    Hang in there!

No fevers at all. That was one of the standard questions I was asked by my MO every 3 weeks. I was told if my temperature ever went above 100 degrees take two Tylenol. If there was no improvement with the Tylenol call the doctor's office and if it goes above 100 degrees go to urgent care. My MO said fevers was one of the many side effects from chemo due to inflammation. I remember a couple of the women on some of these threads had a very difficult time with fevers during their tx regime.

I had four rounds of TC as well. On night 4 after treatments also I would get a fever. Usually over 100 but didn't go above 101. First time it happened I called MO on call and since I had no other symptoms other than usual chemo side effects he said just take Tylenol. It happened every treatment so I just attributed the fever to the chemo meds as well.

thanks BellasMomToo, LeesaD and jo6359, it does seem to me too that this fever is a SE for me more than an infection. Hope the fever goes away in few days atleast until the next cycle....

When I had TC I too would develop a fever. It got higher and higher with each round. I documented it carefully. On day 14 after the third round, It got to 101, and I called the doc on call because it was a Saturday (it was 100.3 on Friday and MO ...ex MO...refused to check my blood work). My white count and neutrophils were basically zero. I was therefore admitted for several days nad given neupogen to try to raise my counts. Do keep a close eye on the fever and get your counts checked.

vgmggroup- please do not ignore the fever though. As kbee stated above it could be very low wbc and neutophills.
