Ultrasound today and really worried.
Here I am again. Me and my breast concerns. They're about to make me lose my mind.
I had bilateral mammogram and an ultrasound today of my right breast because I felt a lump that felt like a green grape (if that makes any sense). The breast doctor said she didn't feel it was anything but just wanted to be sure. The tech did my mammogram first and had me wait and make sure the radiologist didn't need any additional views or compression. Another tech came and got me for my ultrasound. She had me point to the area where I felt the lump and proceeded with the ultrasound. She concentrated on one spot so long that I decided to look at the screen to see if I could tell anything. At that point she was measuring something and typing something I couldn't read because I was looking upside down. She then had me hum twice while concentrating on that spo, (not so sure what that was about), moved around that side of my breast a little more, and told me I could get dressed and wait to see if the radiologist needed anything. At which point I asked her if she could tell me anything and she told me no, to just go wait. I waited about 20 minutes and she came out and told me to go home and call back tomorrow morning after 8. So me being the panicky person I am, am about to lose my mind worrying. I know there's something there, because she measured it. Now my mind is going a million places. I know that tomorrow morning is not that far away, but I can't concentrate on anything for fear of what it is!

Of course, you went in for a lump! if they see anythng lumpy they will measure it and give it a good look. But it can be a cyst or something benign getting measured, not just cancer. An enlarged lymph node. Etc. They want baseline measurements on anything especially if it is a "wait and see" situation like a cyst, to track any growth.
Try to breathe, take a bath, and relax. If they see something they can't figure out (not uncommon) they may want to run more imaging or tests. You were smart to go in when you found a lump!

Thank you, Santabarbarian! You were totally right! I called this morning for my results and everything was normal on both the mammo and ultrasound! Thank the Lord! Not sure if I have cysts. The secretary told me they would give me more information when I went back to my breast doctor.

Mandy, 4 yrs ago I discovered my first lump and it felt exactly like you said "a grape". Mine was a benign fibroadenoma. They did the same thing with the measurements during the US. I just wanted to give you a little more reassurance. Happy you got the clear

So, I just got my ultrasound and mammogram reports in the mail today. The ultrasound showed an intramammary lymph node measuring 6mm. The mammogram showed benign calcifications. So I’m not sure what the lump I’m feeling is, but I’m gonna do a watch and wait approach on it and go from there. At this point I feel pretty confident that it’s just hormonal changes and will continue to monitor it. Thank you ladies for you input! It is much appreciated! :
