I have tried posting this already, but going to give it a go again. Hello all, I'm 41. Dealing with some on going left breast pain. It radiates from around my nipple down the outter side of the breast and into my side and under my arm. I have experienced similar pain before but nothing ongoing like the last couple weeks. Am I loosing my marbles by thinking it could be more serious than just a funky pain? I also feel a lump on the outside of my breast almost to where the breast meets the side. Does that make sense? I had a hysterectomy with ovaries removed around 8 years ago, my maternal grandmother died at age 44 from ovarian cancer. I had implants placed 13 years ago, surgeon placed them above the muscle. He told me when the time comes for breast cancer screening that an ultrasound would be a better option because of placement of implants. Also, I feel like I can't feel for any lumps properly due to the implants being above everything. I called to schedule an appointment but they couldn't get me in soon enough so the nurse suggested I go to the walk in. The walk in doctor referred me to the breast clinic for a mammogram and any other tests they feel is necessary but "his gut" tells him all is fine. I was able to get in right away to the breast clinic, my appt is tomorrow (1/4). Part of me feels like I'm over reacting and the other part if me is a bit freaked out. I hear stories all the time of people having not symptoms at all and just go in for their first mammogram at age 49 just because to only find out they have cancer. To people finding lumps and it's not cancer or is cancer. What were your symptoms? What led you to the doctors? Am I over reacting to my achy menopausal breast? If they both were achy like the days off during my menstrual cycle I wouldn't even give it a second thought but being only one is bugging me and it's not going away has me perplexed.

I think you're doing the right thing. It obviously has you worried, so best to get it checked out to be certain. Good luck at your appointment, and keep us posted as to how things went. Thinking of you.

    Thank you.

Mammogram was today. Not the most fun I have ever experienced but not as bad as I have heard. After it was finished they had me get an ultrasound of the area that's causing pain and only that spot.

Tech left the room and came back within 5 mins and said, normal results follow up in a year. 😮

    Seriously!? That's it?

I don't think it's normal. Something is off. But I don't know what to do from here. Breast is still painful and when I feel around on that side it's super tender! Ugh.

One thing the mammogram tech suggested was to get the BRCA gene test done because of grandmother having ovarian cancer and passing away from it at 44 and my father having precancerous colon polyps at 50. She said it does nothing but educate and give a better plan of preventive care.

But this breast pain though! Ugh

Hi there. I think you need a diagnosis. It doesn't have to be BC but I would want to know what it is. Could you possibly get a second opinion at a major university teaching hospital? Good luck and keeps posted.

Hi there. I think you need a diagnosis. It doesn't have to be BC but I would want to know what it is. Also at your age your breasts are probably dense and a MRI would be the best screening tool for you. Good luck and keeps posted.

I agree dtad. That's what was so frustrating. no one willing to talk to me about any of it after. I had questions. I felt like just another number to them. "Next!"
