Hello! Happy New Year! πŸ™‚πŸ₯³ Newbie here.

I am 31.75 of age πŸ˜‰ I have an almost 4 year old daughter. No history of breast cancer In my family. Around the 1st of December- I developed breast tenderness. I couldn't hardly wear a regular bra and I have never been the type to go out in a sports bra since I am larger chested (DD). I thought it was from my upcoming cycle. That's came and went but the breast pain never subsided. It's only gotten worse. At times, I get a lightening like pain in my left breast but 80% of the time, my breasts are just tender. I can squeeze them and it doesn't really make the pain worse. They are just constantly sensitive. I went to my GP last week who did an exam and found nothing. She did bloodwork that came back fine. Sent me for a mammogram just in case but told me that she suspected it to come out okay.

Fast forward to today- went for the diagnostic mammogram at 1. The worst part was just the cold plates so that was good (so many people have told me that it really hurts in the past) I waited in the room while the radiographer showed them to the radiologist. He immediately had her take extra pics of the right breast. (Both are sensitive but my left is the one that gets random pains) She said that I have dense breast but there was an area on each breast they wanted to look at farther, so I go back Monday morning for an ultrasound. Pretty much freaking out which is not good, I know.

MY nana has told me that she has always heard (both her sisters had BC) breast cancer did not physically hurt their breasts. I'm guessing that has all changed since the 80/90s though as everything else has.

Anyone else have breast tenderness that ended up to be cancer or benign cysts or anthrjng else?

    HoosierGirl87 -

Don't freak out yet! Typically pain in both breasts wouldn't be related to having cancer. The fact that both breasts are tender is probably a sign that what you're feeling is hormonal. Ultra sounds are fairly common so find comfort in that. Try to relax until Monday and keep us posted!

thank you MBPooch. I am trying to stay away from google until Monday. So hard. I would have been relieved had the mammogram went well, but hearing that they were dense and a spot or two of concern really sent me into panic. My little girl is about to turn 4 which adds to the anxiety of it all.

DO cysts present theirselves as painful?

I'm not sure about cysts but prior to my diagnosis I had two fibroadenomas that were very painful, mainly an overall sore feeling. It could be that maybe that's what you're feeling.

My daughter (22) has had painful cysts and received an ultrasound to take a further look. It is unlikely that pain in both breasts would be representative of breast cancer.

I would look into a center that can do all tests and give you results the same day. The waiting is torture.

thank you for taking time to reply @chemistry91. I am praying that this is all hormonal cysts that can be resolved through some diet and vitamin changes. I pray your daughter feels better.

    Waiting is the worst!

    Hi Hoosier,

I have had tremendous breast pain before, but due to fibrocystic changes and mostly surrounding that lovely time of the month. I personally have not had any cancer related pain, but wanted to let you know I sympathize with boobs that aren't in a good mood. :) If you haven't had mammos before, they are probably doing additional tests to stabilize a baseline for you. Best of luck.

thanks for the reassurance @Mystic18, I truly appreciate it. I’m holding onto hope that although this 5 weeks of breast tenderness and pain has sucked, it will be worth it to hear that it’s hornonal cysts or something. How are you feeling? Sending all my love and prayers your way! ❀️
