Hi my mom was just given her lab back and I do not understand it.

All it says is: Breast left sterotactic needle biospy: - invasive carcinoma. - rare microcalcifications present in lobular neoplasia and benign ducts. Stains for ER, PR, Her2 and ki-67 will be performed. My additional info - the spot found was 4mm by 3mm.

My question: Why does it not list the type of invasive carcinoma? All the info I look at says it should say ductal or lobular?

And at that small size (wasn't in her mammogram last year) is this typically the sign of early detection? I try reading online but then freak myself out.

Thanks for any help you could give <3

invasive carcinoma is listed and they list lobular neoplasia- which is the type of cancer. A stereotactic biopsy is looking for calcifications which they also identified. Calcifications become a concern on a mammogram when they increase in number/size and have different shapes(not looking all the same).

A full pathology report they will have a list of hormone receptor status among other things. I would encourage you to help her get a consult with her doctor and a surgeon to discuss the report more in depth. You have some really good questions so write them down (and others you may have) and take them asking to help your mom get the information she needs to move forward with treatment and surgical choices.
