Really Worried.... IBC?

Hi All,

So the last few months I have been complaining of an itchy nipple, when I say months I'm talking maybe 6 months. And then all of a sudden the other day I found a red mark on my boob like a flat right spot. The boob feels tender but isn't painful, I went to my doc who felt I had nothing to worry about but thought I should get a breast exam from a specialist. I'm 28 nearly 29 with no kids, however I have gained weight the last few months. Then today I found another flat red spot. My doc gave me a steroid cream for the itch which has completely got rid of the itch. However I'm really worried as I feel I have all the symptoms of IBC as my boob is swollen and warm and itchy. I know Google is not the answer but it is only giving me the same answer which is IBC. As you can imagine my brain is gone into meltdown and I can't rest. Can please someone tell me if there is any other answer to my symptoms?

Dear Emma90,

We are sorry that you find yourself here and full of worry about IBC. IBC is an uncommon type of breast cancer but google will lead many to that diagnosis which as you know causes more alarm. While no-one here can diagnose what is going on we can say that there are other skin conditions that are not IBC or cancer related. Your primary did suggest that you see a breast specialist and perhaps following through with that recommendation will help to resolve your worry. The Mods

I believe with IBC it happens rapidly.  It sounds like you have had issues for 6 months.  Most likely not IBC.  Glad to hear you are seeing a breast specialist to find out what is causing the issue.
