No chemo for me!! OncotypeDx 20

Hey everyone, just thought I'd share this phase of my journey. Finally received my Oncotype dx results with score of 20 (intermediate). I can confidently say, NO CHEMO FOR ME!

My oncologist pushed for chemo even despite the scoring. This proves to me just how important it is to be your own advocate. I was right for following my first mind & delaying port placement & the infusion. I intuitively knew that was not a part of my journey. Now I need to decide on the Tamoxifen... last PET on 12/24 shows NED after surgery.

I think one of the most important things about treatment is to feel confident in your choices and you are -- that's wonderful!! No looking back - we could 'what-if' ourselves crazy. Congrats to you!

Thanks MDRR! & you are so right! I've had many a sleepless night ruminating over ongoing treatment. There's not only what's best for us but also family. I didn't want to selfishly not do chemo. Now I can stand firm in my decision.

Well my score was 34 and I told my oncologist no chemo. I felt strongly about it I was 53 postmenopausal and took AI drugs. I am 7 years cancer free. I had 2 1cm tumors one idc one ilc. I had a mastectomy with DIEP reconstruction no radiation needed. My tumors were grade 1 and 2, I just had a gut instinct and that combined with the statistics I was convinced of my choice.

Congrats on 7yrs NED! I do believe in that gut instinct. You sure were spot on with yours. I don't think I would've accepted it either way, but it did bring some relief to get the 20 score.
