Biopsy results should come today
good morning,
I’m a 35 year old woman. Felt a moveable lump in my right breast 2 weeks ago. OBgyn sent me for an US and Mammogram on the 18th.
US report:
RIGHT BREAST:
Corresponding to the area of clinical concern on the right which is at 5:00, 8 cm from the nipple there is a hypoechoic ovoid mass measuring 2.1 x 0.8 x 1.6 cm. Borders are mildly lobulated to potentially microlobulated. There is a tiny cyst noted in the right upper inner quadrant which appears simple measuring 6 mm There is no other sonographically identified solid or cystic lesion. There is no axillary adenopathy.
BI RADS: 4
Was sent for core biopsy on the 26th.
I am obviously hoping for an all clear but to go through this much anxiety over the course of 2 weeks, for nothing, will be hard to take.
The holidays have been stressful, I haven’t been a great parent to my 4 year old daughter. I feel stuck. Not sure if I can plan things, what the future holds.
I may not survive if I have to wait the weekend! I do know a pathology report has been generated last night. It is showing up in my patient portal but I am unable to open it.
Thanks for listening

Good morning! So sorry you are going thru this! I went thru the same thing during Thanksgiving! I felt like I couldn’t function while waiting and felt like a terrible mom but it’s not fair to beat yourself up like that! Hang in there!! ❤️ Praying for benign results for you! I had a benign cyst (no biopsy performed) and a solid mass that was biopsied and it came back benign. I’m thankful my results only took about 26 hours...if you’re pathology report is in then hopefully you’ll be getting call today. If you don’t hear anything by mid morning, then call your Dr’s office so they know you are anxiously waiting for the results

I know exactly what you mean -- feeling stuck! I felt the same way between tests and waiting for results. You feel like you can't move forward! But I know that once you have your results and a plan in place, you'll feel much better. Hang in there, it sounds like you should get your results any time and then you can make a plan with your medical team and move forward. In the meantime, this is a good place to find support.
-
The link doesn't work to open the report or you personally cannot bring yourself to open it?
If its abnormal I'll wager you will get a phone call in the near future to schedule the next step.
-
It shows that a report is pending until Jan 3rd. I am thinking it is available but they do not wish for me to view it before speaking with a Dr.
-
MrsG83, It is so hard to wait for these results. And I understand how you feel, and I am sure it is hard to stay distracted. Can you give the office a call? Maybe clarify how they give you the results. My center told me to expect a phone call, but all the information they gave me was if there were cancer cells present or not, the nurse navigator had scheduled my follow up appointment at the time of the call. I hope you get answers soon, maybe the pathology isn’t complete yet and that is why it isn’t available on your portal. I wish you the best as you wait
-
I did call 3 hours ago. The receptionist didn't say whether anything was ready.
The radiologist told me during my biopsy that he would be the one calling me.
This is hel

For both the online portal at my doctor's office and a specialist's office (different systems), the reports aren't made available to me until the doctor has signed off on them. So it may just be that. I wouldn't try to read into it any more than that, or you'll drive yourself crazy.
I certainly can relate. It's been a nerve-wracking month for me. Still waiting on breast MRI results myself and second biopsy in the new year. But for now, I'm consciously focusing that most biopsies are benign, even though I realize that on paper, there is a strong likelihood I'll be going the club in the new year. I'll face that then if I have to, but not now during the holidays and the busiest month of the year for me at work. So hang in there, you're not alone.
-
MrsG, here is my advice. I found that through the year of my diagnosis and treatment that test results are generally back a lot earlier than they tell you. Not ALL the time of course but when I called and insisted on an answer, amazing at how quickly they'll respond with an answer.
Oh, I just saw your last post that you called three hours ago. I would call back and tell them you need the doctor to call you today with the results OR ask for his voicemail and ask him.
It is indescribable how difficult it is to wait.
Please keep us all informed MrsG! Prayers to you!
Love,
Scar

well the breast center didn’t answer my call so I thought to call my referring Dr, my obgyn. They called me back 2 minutes later and said the biopsy picked up benign breast tissue!
I wish I had thought to call them soone
-
Woo hoo! Very happy for you. Calling really seems to help. I had to call today to myself to get my breast MRI results. Apparently, my primary thought the breast surgeon had given me the results, and the breast surgeon thought my breast surgeon had given me the results. Simple call cleared it up.
-
so glad it is benign
-
Can you post the entire path report ?
-
I still haven’t seen it, norhave I spoken with a Dr.
I hope a Dr calls me today. If not, it likely won’t be until Wednesday.
So all I know is that the biopsy picked up benign breast tissue, which a nurse at my OBGYN office communicated to me.
-
The way they told you the results may be what they tell everyone so this may not at all be related to your situation but if I biopsy a distinct mass that I suspect is a fibroadenoma or other benign mass, and the report comes back as only 'normal breast tissue' I would wonder if I missed the target. There should be something other than just benign breast tissue reported.
After every biopsy a report is generated by the radiologist who did the procedure that indicates whether what was found on path matches what was found on imaging. A look at that report would be helpful if you cannot get the path report itself. It will also contain recommendations for what to do next.
-
I appreciate this insight. Unfortunately, they are closed today. I actually drive to the imaging center as they have not returned my calls yesterday or today. Google wrongly states that they are open on Saturdays.
I wish there was a way to unlock my report through my portal. I can’t believe I haven’t spoken to a Dr yet. The report was posted the evening of the 27th.
I am furious at this point.
-
well here we are on 12/31 and I still don’t know what’s happening. The office called me this morning to say my pathology report is not complete. So I don’t know what the nurse at my obgyn was talking about. Maybe she saw a preliminary report?
It does now say “benign breast disease” in my patient portal health record. Maybe she was ready that... but that could just be about my fibroccystic breast, which I’ve always had.
Will update when I know something
