Shadowing but no detectable mass

Hi all.

I had a indention on my left breast. Sent for a mammo and ultrasound. Mammo was clear but there was an area of shadowing with no detectable mass/lesion Birad 4. Radiologist said she was concerned and Scheduled a biopsy this Friday. (She wanted to do an mri that day but I’m claustrophobic and need meds to not claw my way out of that tube).

Has anyone had this happen and it turn out to be bc?

I know it’s very low on the concern scale. I received the estimated bill for the biopsy and the message also stated the possibility of insurance denying the claim for the biopsy? The biopsy is a little over $11,000. Is that normal, high?

Im considering canceling the biopsy.I know it’s not an ideal thing to do but I’m weighing all my options. Not looking for answers just others experiences and some kind of feedback, maybe some kind words too. This is scary stuff and I’m just trying to make the right choice for my family.

Thanks to all.

    Hi FLlady13

I have the same symptom as you - an indent on my left breast. I had my biopsy scheduled for this morning after my last ultrasound had some faint shadowing. When I arrived, they did an ultrasound to try to find an area to biopsy and couldnt find anything. The radiologist came in and watched the tech go over my breast and he said he didn’t feel comfortable doing a biopsy without an area to target and that he recommends doing an MRI instead. Waiting now to get that scheduled.

    Best of luck.

    nic443. Thank you

They did tell me that that was a possibility too. This is all so nerve wracking. My husband talked me into the biopsy. He said it isn't worth taking the chance. He would rather pay the bill. Guess I'm a keeper. I will pray your MRI is a good result. Sending Positive thoughts to you!
