hi,

Was told by Sloan Kettering Onc that this is going to be the new choice of treatment instead of Xeloda for non metastatic breast cancer patients such as stage 3 to prevent recurrence.

Anyone hear about this yet ?

BTW was labeled NED today ! Idk how I actually feel about that. Ug

    Hi Idkidk

Congratulations about being NED, first of all!

I was stage IIB (borderline III) with a lot of residual disease after chemo (plus Herceptin plus Perjeta) and I am going to ask my MO about this next week. I am hoping to get this treatment. I dont know if you checked the podcast from dr Maura Dickler about the San Antonio meet, it´s posted here at BCO, she said the results of the KATHERINE are practice-changing and Kadcyla will become the new standard for adjuvant at least for us triple positives. Fingers crossed. I will update when I talk to MO

Yes that’s what they say it’s the new thing starting now if insurance wants to pay.

Sorry H&P didn’t help you, these cancers respond so differently to various drugs.

Yes definitely ask and thank you I will look up the Article right now

LaughingGul, I am currently in neo-adjuvant chemo stage - finished AC and now doing taxol (with herceptin and perjeta). The protocol here in Australia is just herceptin after surgery for the year but if I don’t get a pathologically complete response come surgery then I’ll also have Kadcyla. It’s going to be very expensive as Kadcyla is only currently funded for stage IV but of course worth it if it means the cancer doesn’t come back. I’m hormone negative so don’t have the option of hormonal therapy either. Good luck and let me know how you go.
