For constipation, my wife has been prescribed miralax and ducolax. They're both also avail without a prescription.

    Hi Love83,

It's not unusual to have difficulty concentrating after AC. I know what you mean when you say your gait feels off. I remember that well.  Take things slowly, be careful, especially with hot items. One chemo I had made me less sensitive to heat, kind of a delayed reaction. I got a lot burns from the oven, etc.

oncologist prescribed miralax and senocot s. Really helped. If you can eat one serving pitted prunes a day it only makes it better.

Miralax here too - also Oncologist suggested I take Magnesium supplements which I still take for constipation. A side effect of the anti nausea meds is constipation. Try to drink lots and lots of water if you can, that also helped with my nausea and constipation. Yes my gait was off, I had TCHP- I fell down a few stairs and two other times on grass. Concentration was also hard - I had a hard time finishing conversations and finding words.

Be very careful and take it slow, everything is back to normal for me except the fatigue part. Good Luck!

I have some magnesium 007 it works wonders, but was using it when I was doing a cleanse. I will have to speak with my oncologist to see if I can continue with it. I will be happy when I can say I'm back to normal.

I, too, have only had the first treatment. I drunk a lot of water, kept saltine crackers nearby, and peppermint oil to inhale every time my head hurts and/or nausea comes to visit. Get some stool softeners and take those according to the directions.

On the peppermint oil, that would be an essential oil from a reputable source. Its effects are almost immediate. Now that I cannot take Excedrin for headaches and limited on Tylenol, peppermint essential oil has really been a God send for nausea and headaches. I started using it after the first three days of taking zophran and phenarghan. Phenarghan makes me loopy and zophran gives me headaches.

    Praying you get better soon.

Love83, my worst chemo side effect was constipation. After the first round of TAC, I was miserable. I took Colace, Miralax and Metamucil (get the generic at Costco) three times a day until I finally had success.

After that, I got ready for each round of chemo by taking Colace, Miralax and Metamucil each night for three nights leading up to the appointment. After chemo, I took them twice a day until I was sure I was OK.

The anti-nausea drugs work wonders, but their side effects include constipation because they slow gastrointestinal motility.
