Triple-Negative Cancer: Anyone tried go fund me?
Hello,
I am a new member and seeking to get information about triple-negative breast cancer and what help i can provide for my mother. She is currently on disability leave from her job while she does chemo. She lost her home, due to limited income. I created a go fund me account today but am seeking any other advice that anyone can give: resources, financial assistance, etc. I appreciate any help. Thank you and prayers to you all.For more information: My mother is currently fighting triple negative breast cancer. Please help if you can. Thank you.

I do not have a lot of knowledge about resources, but I do know some non profit hospitals exist, because I am at one.
Determine if there is a non profit hospital in your area that can treat her. They will not hound you for $. And they work with people. How do I now? I know because when I was diagnosed w breast cancer, there was a bill on my account that was over one year old that I had never received in the mail! Not one phone call!
Call your local office of social services to see what she qualifies for. If there is a 'breast cancer resource center' or charity group in your area, call them.
Fasting is free and can help w chemo side effects. Eating the healthiest diet possible.... with lots of above-ground veggies. 80% veggies and no junk!

Hi Nadiasmom, and welcome to Breastcancer.org!
We're so sorry to hear of your mom's diagnosis, but we're really glad you've found us. Thank you for advocating for her!
You may find it helpful to read through the main Breastcancer.org site's section on Paying for Your Care, which offers lots of great information on financial assistance programs, ways to lower medicine cost, help paying for living expenses, and more.
We hope this helps. Please keep us posted on how your mom is doing and let us know if we can be of any further assistance!

The treatment center your mom goes to it is trying to go to can probably help you with assistance resources and navigating getting stuff paid for. My MO reached out aroundmy treatment center and the clinical trials department told her to go directly to the manufacturer who said I could file an application and get that medicine free for a year! The online searches can be overwhelming and many places have shit down furniture to lack of funds, but it can pay off if you are persistent. Many applications want tax returns (one I saw wanted mine for 5+ years ago!) plus a myriad of other info...it’s tedious, but don’t give up!
I’ve thought about a go fund me, but haven’t delved there yet! Social media can help with those a lot. You may even be able to make a simple poster and go around to local business and advertise your mom’s go fund me. Good luck!

Idk about resources either unfortunately. I have heard of places here like the Church Health Center that have helped with treatments and meds costs.
I’m so sorry for your mother losing her house and now dealing with her DX. If it was my Mom I would set up a go fund me or contact your church for help with financial assistance if possible.
There are a myriad of BC agencies that are supposed to provide needed assistance. Contact every one. Be persistent.I would also talk to her doctors office/hospital and see if there is a social worker who can assist. I had a patient advocate when I was DX and even though I didn’t have pressing financial worries since I had health insurance she was my go to person through the process.
Good luck and don’t give up.

Request an appointment with a social worker at the hospital. They can move mountains.
