Anyone with Tamoxifen SEs do better on AIs?

I've had many SE's on tamoxifen, the worst being joint pain. I'm on a Tamoxifen vacation. I see my MO in two weeks and she wants to test to see if I'm in menopause- haven't had a period since September 2017.

First question, is this a blood test?

If I am in menopause she may switch me to an AI. Obviously, I'm afraid of this because a frequent SE is joint pain.

Has anyone switched to an AI and felt better?

And if I'm not in menopause she mentioned shots - how often and do they hurt? Where do you get them on body? I hate needles!
