I am a 71 year old breast cancer survivor, diagnosed October 23, 2018, early stage ductal carcinoma metastatic breast cancer, lumpectomy November 16, 2018, however, after one year, the Biozorb has not fully dissolved, and feels like a hard knot protruding upwards. I was told by my surgeon that it should have dissolved by now, and waiting until mid December, for possible remedy. Also, just learned that I probably should have worn special sports bras? Has anyone experienced this situation and can share outcome?

    Thanks,

    bornwell

Hi there Bornwell. While the manufacturer gives a year as the average for full absorption, my surgeon told me to expect longer and she was right. I had trouble sleeping on the "biozorb boob" for six months, and it took 14 months for it to feel absorbed at all. Right now I'm pain-free and able to sleep pretty comfortably on my side.

A good bra definitely helped me a lot! Any kind of "jiggling," like an exercise class, caused mild pain and a sports bra helped. I also (finally!) invested in a trip to a specialty bra store where I got help choosing the right size and finding bras with good support. So I highly recommend that. In my case I was a 32 not a 34 as I thought, and a tighter band made walking on hard surfaces so much more comfortable.

Also useful for me were the post-lumpectomy exercises which my surgeon suggested I continue for a year. Even without a biozorb, a lumpectomy can cause muscle pain in the pec, so stretching helps a lot.

Several of us check in often at the link the mods gave you so do feel free to check in with us there. You can PM me too.
