I felt something strange in my breast by mistake about a month ago. Had a sharp, quick pain and reached over to feel a hard lump. It seemed large and I didn't have one in that place on my other breast. I haven't really done breast exams since menopause and my breast have changed since then -- less or no fibrocystic lumps. Anyway I went immediately for my mammogram and no lumps showed up -- the radiologist said there were no changes from last year. They did an ultrasound on that outer side of my left breast and found a very small lump that the radiologist acted like was cancer. I am having a core needle biopsy on Monday. My question is " do the elderly have benign lumps -- I've done a lot of reading and it sounds like the benign lumps are found on younger people.
