The importance of social media as a patient advocacy tool

Times are changing and much of the discussion on breast cancer has moved to social media, particularly on closed Facebook pages where patients are gathering to share their stories and experiences. I know of dozens and even BCO runs a popular page.

Patient advocates can be found on Twitter, where medical professionals and patients come together daily to share a huge variety of information on bc. On Monday nights (EST U.S. time) there's an active Twitter chat on a different topic each week using #bcsm.
