Hi everyone! I am new and looking for any shared experiences. I had a BMX w reconstruction on 9/27. I am 45.

Post surgery I am doing well and returned to basic gym activity by week 5. However, I am surprised to notice rapid weight gain. I’ve gained close to 10 lbs, which has never happened to me before this quickly - even in the college years or pregnancies ;)

I am no longer on any meds and have not started hormone therapy.

Has anyone else had this occur, maybe the surgery was a massive shock to my metabolism?

I gained 50 pounds in the 10 years after my mastectomy. I truly believe that most of it was due to the traumatic effect of the cancer and surgeries. Trauma has a way of damaging our bodies in many ways. I recommend you continue to exercise as it has both physical and psychological benefits. I also recommend you include Tai-Chi or yoga into your routine. Take wholefoods vitamin/mineral supplements, eat a diet high in vegetables and fruits, use organic products as much as you can and detox often.
