Hi Everyone,

I am just at the beginning of starting a keto diet. I am doing conventional treatment as well but I just want to add this in as another preventative measure for recurrence. I also think it will be good for combating the symptoms of hormone treatment.

I am wondering has anyone been using keto and has had good results with it? Either Stage 4 and seeing tumour stabilisation/shrinkage or reduction in side effects? Just would like some extra encouragement for when I am craving carbs!

Thanks.

Rioghnach, congrats on your good keto program choice! Ketosis was really difficult to maintain initially, especially being surrounded by holiday temptations... and Happy Thanksgiving to you. Exercise caution while in Ketosis to avoid harming kidneys, so I often went off.

Managed my carb cravings by munching on plain baked sweet potato throughout day, or on 3-4 unsalted potato chips.

Being almost 5 years out (NED), I combine keto diet with supplements including: Brevail, IC3, broccoli sprout extract (sulphorophane), tumeric, etc.

For maintenance, I take immuno-modulator anti-microbial (Carnivora) to help fight pathogens, but I had early stage oddball subtypes Luminal A ER+PR+.

Hormone treatment (tamox) caused blood clots in lungs, so it's wise to get checked for blood disorders and hormone pill metabolism to test for positive response. I was forced to quit hormonal treatments.

A relative's friend overseas with advanced IDC low grade had good luck keeping her BC at bay long-term using integrated treatments, including Carnivora daily prescribed by her Naturopathic clinic while on a modified keto & Med. diets with exercise. It's a crapshoot, but best wishes to you.

I have been doing Keto for years. I have no problem making this my new way of eating because I am well fed and never hungry. I lost 80lbs and have kept it off for years and years. I sometimes include intermittent fasting as well which is very easy since all of my carb and sugar cravings are long gone and my appetite is well under control. I am 5'7" and have maintained my weight in the 125-128 lb range for a decade. I have kept my blood sugar in the 70-80 range. Before I went keto I was considered pre-diabetic with a blood sugar of 110. My onc credits my way of eating with helping me stay cancer free for over 14 years with a very crappy diagnosis.

Let me know if I can help you in any way with your keto way of eating. I'd be happy to. There are so many health benefits to it!
