Lupron not stopping periods
After completing chemotherapy my periods returned instantly (I’m 42). My estradiol was crazy high (over 800) so my oncologist put me on Lupron to put me into menopause. Three monthly shots in it clearly wasn’t working so Sheba doubles time the dose. I’ve now had an additional four shots at double the normal dose and I’m still having periods and my estradiol is in the 40s (should be below 20). FSH remains low as well. My doctor says she’s never seen this. Anyone else have this type of experience

I remember when I started getting Zoladex shots for suppression, my MO told me there are some people who just can’t be suppressed. I was able to be based on my estradiol levels which were virtually undetectable after first dosage but he said the reason they check is because there was a time when women would get pregnant while getting suppression shots so now they check levels to make sure. He did warn me about that prior but the Zoladex worked for me until I was able to have my ovaries removed.

I received my 1st Lupron (tiny dose) this morning. . . I’ll post back on how it goes. As far as I know my hormone levels weren’t checked.

well BoldFiona, I'm afraid that my experience isn't going to be of much help to your situation. I got the Lupron (3.75mg) on Thursday 11/29 @10:30 Cst; it was day 4 of my cycle (I tend toward the heavier side in regards to menses, lasting 5-7 days) by 6:30 that evening there was little to no bleeding. (I'm 43, 7 yrs ago I didn't have chemo, but 5 years of Tamoxifen lessened the amount/length of menses, finished Tamoxifen 8/2016 cycles resumed w/ avengence, ie very heavy & lengthy for 3-4 months, then 'normalized', until Lupron
Hopefully your doc can get your situation resolved, I will continue to let you know how things progress and bump the thread . . . for others to chime in
