Tamoxifen and Endometrial Thickness

So this week I had a ultrasound to check things out since I have been on Tamoxifen for 5 months. Just received the posted report and it shows a 9mm endometrial lining and small cystic changes consistent with Tamoxifen use. OB/GYN ordered the test due to some pain and pressure since starting on Tamoxifen. Will have to wait until I hear from the physician, but really, what to do?  I was premenopausal prior to BC, but have not had a period since a month into chemo. I am mid 40s. Guess chemo and Tamoxifen may have pushed me to menopause. MO said in order to switch to AIs you have to be at least a year without a period, which is 6 months away. Anyone else in similar circumstances? What options were you given?

I was in a similar situation - periods stopped with chemo, took Tamoxifen, had lower abdominal pain - US showed thickened lining and ovarian cyst. In my case, they repeated the US three months later and the results were worse. The plan was for a D&C. And then I had a period - 18 months after the last one!

I'm older than you (52) and haven't had another period in almost five months. I've had hormone testing twice which is looking more like menopause. I'm planning to discuss this with my GYN next month.

Thank you for the response. I just have a feeling that the 1 in 10,000 uterine cancer rate from Tamoxifen that MO quoted is woefully underestimated. I think many women in their 40s end up watching and catching it with treatments such as a D&C. I am scheduled for a endometrial biopsy next month to see if there are any abnormal cells. I suppose an AI would be better once I am a year out in menopause, but it seems like this testing is not always accurate from what I have read on here by many others. I feel like my body and mind need the estrogen but my cancer does not! Ugh.
