Mentally Handicapped Sister with Breast Cancer

Hello,

My mentally handicapped sister was recently diagnosed with breast cancer about a month ago. According to the biopsy, it has not spread to her lymph nodes. I've explained in simple terms to her that her breast is "sick" and I had to use the term cancer because of course the medical professionals will most certainly. She doesn't comprehend "cancer" and hasn't mentioned it since our initial discussion though we've gone for many medical visits to prepare for her mastectomy at the end of the month. She's as oblivious as ever which is probably a good thing. It's heartbreaking that she has this disease but the doctors are optimistic that she will survive. Our parents are deceased so I'm the power of attorney--the decision maker. It's great to have this forum to share my thoughts and get questions answered.
