Mastectomy but now have a lump - help

Options

My mum had a mastectomy ( single ) many years ago and is now in her late 60’s. She has now found a lump last week and has had bloody in her stool. I am really worried and can’t get an appointment for her until 2 weeks time. I am really worried cancer has come back. Is there anything else this could be?

Hi Mollies, of course you need to get your mom a Dr's appointment, but yes, there could be a lot of benign explanations for her symptoms.

You are not saying where the lump is, but we often have lumps and bumps that are not cancer. Blood in stool is relatively common and can be from hemmorhoids or tiny cracks in her rectum. These are both very benign and treatable, but, of course, you need to investigate.

Good luck and try not too worry too much until she sees a doctor and knows more.

thank you, sometimes you just need someone to tell you what your heads telling you. The lump is on her remaining breast on the outer top side next to arm pit.

The problems are likely unrelated to each other; but both need to be investigated. Let us know how it goes. Sorry you have to wait so long
