Finding a new love after cancer diagnosis

Hi!

I was wondering...how did you meet your significant other (if you met him/her after your cancer diagnosis)? I was with a person who I thought was the love of my life for about 10 years (on and off). He was with me through my cancer diagnosis and treatment (not 100% but that's another story). I ended things because I was tired of how things had become between us. Now, I'm ready to move on but I'm beyond scared!!! How do I find someone who will be okay with my new way of life? I'm different now (mentally and physically). I have scars from my breast reconstruction (DIEP). The scars are on my breast and across my stomach. I know that it sounds superficial but when do I warn a potential mate about my scars, and me and my cancer? I have had no evidence of disease for 4 years (hopefully for good) but that doesn't mean forever. Does anyone know where I should start looking for a caring person who won't be scared off by cancer and its effects?

Thank you for any inspiring stories you can give me!

Hi! I am not in your position, since I've been with my husband forever! But my hubby is 30 years older than me, and is always telling me, I should get married again when he's gone, to shut him up I always say, don't t worry, I'm looking around😉. In fact when he said not to get the reconstruction for his sake, I said , I'm not, it's for my second husband😄So my point is, I've thought of the same things you've mentioned. Hard to imagine someone else seeing the scars. Funny thing is I just read an article in Cure magazine, fall issue 2018, about this subject. There are online dating sites specifically for people affected by cancer! Who know? One is called CancerMatch.com. I don't know if that interests you, but there it is! It's either that or look for a Doctor! Good luck to you, it's great when your life is no longer all about cancer!
