i had a single mastectomy over seven years ago. I had breast reconstruction with silicone implant. I am not experiencing any problems. Is it necessary to have an mri to check implant integrity when asymptomatic? I have been reading conflicting information on this.

I don't know that it's necessary, but most manufacturers recommend an MRI after three years and then continuing every two years after that. While implants are fairly safe, there are some concerns about the silicone escaping and remaining in your body.

Probably the biggest concern with MRI is cost. Insurance should cover it in this case. And there's no radiation exposure.
