Small lump in neck

I have felt for the last two weeks a small lump deepin my neck st the top of my neck behind my ear but more along the muscle there. Wants me to see the nurse practitioner and not the doctor. She will check my symptoms and take vitals. I had a hard bump behind my ear last year at same time and they did an ultrasound and said it was normal.

Would the recurrence happen in the upper part of the neck? My doctor said that any recurrence usual happens around the collarbone. I am hoping they give me an ultrasound for peace of mind.

Lumps and bumps happen all the time...cysts, lymph nodes fighting sinus, dental, throat, ear infections. There's no way to know by feeling. The fact you had it last year and it disappeared implies your body produces lumps to deal with stuff.

I hope they can give you some sort of reassurance and crossing fingers it is just your body doing what it is supposed to...clearing bugs out.

Hi, I have lump in neck...saw surgical oncologist today who reviewed neck ct...am having biopsy on friday... get it checked...worry will not help...love and luck to you

it is likely a reactivelymph node, but lumps should be evaluated.
