Should I be worried?

Hi, this is my first post and I am hoping for a little advice.

I found a very small lump in my breast about 3 months ago. I though it would be something and nothing as it was so tiny, like a ball bearing size. The lump it just under the skin and there is an indent on the skin and slight mark on the skins surface. I saw a doctor a few weeks later as it was not going away and he told be from feeling it that it was a sebaceous cyst and that they would remove it under local anaesthetic. I have now been waiting for over 2 months but still no appointment and whilst I am sure he’s right, it has not been tested so part of me wonders how he can be so sure. I did get a second opinion when I went to another doctor about something else so I thought I would ask them while I was there but she just said the other doctor is a dermatologist so he knows what he’s talking about.

I really don’t want to cause a fuss for no reason or wast any valuable NHS time so I wondered if anyone else has had a sebaceous cyst on the breast as o cannot find much online about sebaceous breast cycsts

Thanks all

Sam

    Hi Hunters27,

You seem like you are being very reasonable. You may want to read our section on benign breast conditions. That said, it would certainly ease your mind if you could get it tested. Perhaps you can call and ask to push that appointment along.

Hang in there, and keep it posted.

A sebaceous cyst is, essentially, a pimple. It is a skin condition, not a breast condition and nothing to stress about.

you’ve possibly addressed this by now but I have actually had two sebaceous cysts on my right breast. And two surgeries to remove them. Neither had a “head” or a way to remove under than during surgery. The first was about 1 inch and you could see it and the second was on the incision site. Mine was not dx as a sebaceous cyst until after surgery. But this was over 15 years ago and I was in my early twenties.
