Hi everyone. Thanks so much for all of the wonderful information that is available on this forum.

I have had 2 ultrasounds in the last 2 years for palpable lumps. Last year, ultrasound on one breast showed 2 cysts. My NP told me they would most likely go away with my cycle. The other breast wasn't examined. This year my NP felt the lumps again and ordered an ultrasound on both breasts. They found 2 cysts in my left breast and 4 in my right.

My NP told me she was not worried at all but to be thorough she referred me to a breast surgeon. Breast surgeon also said she wasn't worried but referred me for a baseline 3D mammogram primarily because I had a great aunt die of BC at 40. I am 35. The imaging center is requesting more imaging as they were unable to get the image files of my recent u/s. I'm assuming that they need the images, and can't just use the written report to compare results, but of course I am still slightly anxious. It's worth noting that I recently felt a new lump at 6 o'clock that wasn't notated on my ultrasound report.

It seems a bit atypical to have an ultrasound followed by a mammogram followed by an ultrasound...but I am glad that everyone is being thorough. Is it typical for a mammogram to detect things not found on an initial ultrasound that then need to be reviewed with an additional ultrasound? Basically I just hate the waiting game, and while I'm not very worried at all, I do want to make sure that I'm asking the right questions and armed with knowledge before I go back. I really don't want to get anymore tests, but at this point I'm starting to wonder when is it appropriate for me to push for a biopsy?

Any advice or insight into the path my screenings have taken is much appreciated!
