Keeping my hormonal IUD after diagnosis

Hi everyone,

I have no idea if this is the right place for this question, but it's hormone related, so...

My lump was found when I was getting a hormonal IUD placed (after a 3ish year break from it when I was freezing eggs). Since the biopsy came back malignant and er+/pr+, (her-), everyone's (gynecologist and surgical oncologist) been after me to take it out.

I really don't want to take it out. I hope to some day have a sex life again, and in the mean time, not getting periods makes a big quality of life impact for me.

I've been googling and it seems like the role of the pr+ isn't super well understood yet, and the role of progesterone likewise. Early studies did not find an increased risk of recurrence with the IUD, though later studies. The latest studies I could find saw an increased risk of recurrence basically equivalent to the decreased risk of ovarian cancer. And either way, pretty tiny.

The surgeon said that since I don't have a family history of ovarian cancer and I don't have the genetic mutations, I shouldn't be taking the ovarian thing into consideration.

I have been standing my ground so far and thinking that I'll discuss with the medical oncologist when I meet her. I guess she might have more insight into things than the surgical oncologist.

But I wonder - is anyone else in the same boat? What conversations have you head with your oncologists? Am I crazy?

Thank you!

(Mods, if you think this would go better in a different forum, happy for it to be moved)
