10 years ago this weekend I was dx.... what a whirlwind that was.... health is great--- and while I had lumpectomy, chemo and radiation, I barely remember most of it.... just wanted to reach out and let those of you who are just starting out that there is a light at the end of the tunnel!!!!!

    Jaboo,

I will add more--my best friend was dx after me- had chemo, radiation and herceptin... 8 years later, doing fabulously-- peaking in her career-- just doing great in every way... hang in there.. it will be in the rearview mirror soon!!!

Thanks for sharing. I also was diagnosed in October , 8 years ago! ( official dx was in November, but I knew in October after ultrasound and mammo)I wish I could say I don't think about it, but I do and certainly wish BC was not a part of my past. It is ,however and I do my best to take care of myself and stay positive. Always good to hear from people who are doing well. JaBoo, good luck to you and I am sending positive vibes your way!

I only come to this site a few times a year now, although during the first year it was a wonderful support system to me. Use it!! Good luck and good health to us all!

Momand2kids - thank you for sharing. I especially appreciate the "barely remember it" - I was stunned when women reached out to me at diagnosis and pretty much said the same thing. I'm at 2 years and still remember it but hope that the memories become fuzzier as time goes by.

It really does fade--the first year or 2 it is still very much on your radar-- and part of that is because you are at the dr. every few months. Now it is once a year-just like the regular doc--- and it does get subsumed by the rest of your life as you go on.... kids, dogs, jobs, etc. It is not that you are not different-the experience does change us I think. But the rest of your life is still there to be lived.... I like to think I keep a healthy focus on what is new in research, etc. but I don't obsess about my circumstances-just try to enjoy the here and now!!!! Easier to do as more time passes, I promise...

good luck--- each time I had a treatment, I would say "I am 25% done, 50% done, etc. Just kept moving forward.... every step gets you closer to the end!!!!
