I have been recently diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy on 10/08/2018. I have a strong family history of prostate cancer on my father's side so I was offered genetic testing. I did elect to undergo testing so I would be able to better prepare my children to obtain early screenings. I have been found to be SMARCA4 positive which carries an increased risk of ovarian cancer at an early age, starting at 25. My daughter is 24 and will be undergoing testing. I am scheduled to have my ovaries removed on 10/30/2018. I am told this is very rare and not much information is known as of yet. I would greatly appreciate any information that anyone can gove me. Thank you so very much

Lady-shamrock - Sorry you are here, but welcome!

We really don't know any other member with SMARCA4 positive testing results, but hope some will read this and reach out. In the mean time, you may want to take a look at the pages of the prophylactic ovary removal section of our main site, for more information on what to expect, what the surgery involves, and the potential benefits and risks of prophylactic ovary removal.

Good luck with everything. Please, come back and let us know!
