Abnormal Bone Marrow
I am 9 years out from diagnosis and got pulled back here when things started showing up on scans. My husband died 3 months ago and I injured my arm the night he died. I am just now able to start addressing it, since it is pretty much still non-functional. Had an MRI that showed abnormal bone marrow over 6 cm on the humerus and a smaller lesion nearby. A follow-up CT scan just confirmed and strengthened that finding. It found a 3rd lesion on rib and pathologic fracture in the humerus. We are working on getting a PET scan scheduled and will go from there. I guess it is back to the oncologist I go. I was pretty surprised by my first MRI findings and insisted that my pain was a direct result of an injury, but the follow-up CT scan and the pathologic fracture pretty much set the direction here. I will still hold out hope that it could be something else, but I am no longer expecting it and am beginning to be fearful of what they will find on the PET scan since I also have pain in my neck that I have been chalking up to arthritis. I am alone now (except for my son who is away at school), so I will be needing all the support I can get. Thanks for listening and for being there.

I am so very sorry that you are dealing with this. The death of your husband had to be devastating, and now this. (((HUGS)))
I would do all you can to line up a support system of friends and family to accompany you to appointments, and just do things like go for coffee, to distract you from this. Let us know how things are going. Thinking of you.

Thanks for your response KBeee. Yes, it is pretty lonely at home now without my lifelong companion. I am just beginning to try to build up my network of friends after the long and isolating illness of my husband. My few friends and neighbors have been great in rallying around me and going to lunch, etc. I've found most people to be generally kind, compassionate, and willing to help make another's trauma a little easier. Very grateful for those kind souls.

Just reporting back in that I FINALLY got the results of my PET scan, which showed metastasis to several areas in the bones (both sides of pelvis, several lumbar joints, clavicle), as well as a suspicious area in the lungs. The abnormal bone marrow was correct, and the fracture in my humerus is very painful and getting very annoying. Looks like I'm back on the cancer train. I have an appointment with the oncologist tomorrow morning.

I am so very sorry to hear this. Hoping that you can bring a friend to the appointment, and that your MO gets s plan in place soon. Hopefully they will biopsy a lesion to make sure the ER, PR, and HER2 have not changed. Remember that your friends want to help. Allowing them to do so helps them; not just you. (((Hugs))

Thanks again for your kind reply KBeee. Yes, biopsy is the plan. I am struggling to cope with all of this.
