Chronic Kidney Disease

Hi everyone, I'm 12+ years out since finishing TAC chemo; 8+ years since stopping AI's. I was just diagnosed with chronic stage 3A kidney. Last month my creatinine labs were elevated so oncologist had them repeated....which I did this past week...numbers till creeping up....saw my PCP yesterday and she is the one who diagnosed the kidney disease....over the past 1 1/2 years has been the real change in numbers (creatinine and CFR). PSP has referred me to Nephrologist.

Has anyone developed kidney disease as a late effect of chemo? Thanks so much, Karen

Hi Karen, I'm so sorry you are dealing with kidney issues. I was diagnosed this year with Stage 3 kidney disease this year--i'm right in the middle of the Stage III. I don't think it was a result of chemo, but chemo could be a factor along with all the contrast dye scans we all have. Age is part of it too as I am 73. Because of joint issues I used to take ibprofen and that is not good for kidneys at all. I had my doctor refer me to a nephrologist and I have been seeing him since December. I really like him which sure helps. I asked for a referal to a kidney specialist dietician which was very helpful.

Cowgirl, Thanks for your response. I'm only 62. When I was on Arimidex I took lots of ibuprofen as I was having horrific joint pain. I've been off all Ai's since 2010. My PCP is making the referral to Nephrologist and soon as they get my records, I can make an appointment. I'm so stressed. I can't find anything to tie the chemo I had to be a cause. Keep in touch.
