I can't take the wait!
Hi all,
I was diagnosed last month, had a lumpectomy and snb on the 10th of October. I thought for sure I would have the pathology report by now but since I don't, I keep imagining that it is because whatever I have is too weird to be done in a week... (I've always been really imaginative) I can't imagine what the holdup is. I can't stand my surgeon and am terrified that he didn't get good margins and will have to operate on me again.

Try not to assume the worst. My BS had to do another surgery to even the margins but that’s fairly common. It’s been 7 years since my DX so I’m not positive when my PR came back except it was less than a week but of course not every facility operates on the same time frame.

DWiseley, it took about 1.5 weeks for my final pathology to come back. Try not to panic... sometimes facilities just take that long.
-
it took 2 weeks for mine to come back for oncoDX
-
I had surgery 11/1, results in on 11/8, but met BS on 11/9 for her to give me results. I think it all depends on where you had your surgery for how long it takes for results. Best wishes to you.

Two weeks is the norm for the Oncotype test. Mine was back the day before I saw my MO. Low score thankfully.

I got my results back! Still waiting for Oncotype, but the pathology of my tumor is t1,n0,m0. My estrogen and progesterone are super high.
-
I don't have words of advice, but I know you can get through this.
-
That's great news!
I'm in a similar boat. Surgery 10/18, follow up appointment tomorrow, still no results. I'm going insane.
-
I know what you mean, they still don't have my her-2 and I don't think they even started the oncotype. It's going to be close to a month on the second since surgery that they still haven't completed these two things.
-
I feel ya!
I had my surgery on the 17th of October. My appt is on 8th November to discuss results. And I dont get to see the pathology report before then
The doctor told me it takes at least two weeks which is why she scheduled my appointment at three weeks to be sure she had the complete report.
Cant take the wait though so I dropped her a message to see if she would at least have preliminary results tomorrow to tell me I.e. clean margins and zero lymph involvement (or not!)
I hate this wait game. Some days I do fine others my imagination goes wild!!

going for results on tumor markers this morning. Getting ready for my 3rd pet/Ct scan. My mind goes blank and I become numb during this time. Out of body experience. Wish I could wave a wand and sweep away y'alls anxiety and fears. Oh!!! Just took my little dose of zanax. Should help. Hugs !!!! J

Jazz, testing days are brutally anxiety provoking! Let us know how it goes!
Raysal, you should have access to your results AS SOON as they are done! I would be breaking down the doors to find out. Do your medical providers have an online portal?
Jadejo, one month is an inexcusable amount of time to wait, especially when your tx depends on it. Let's face it, our emotional and mental well being depend on it!
I would like to see research on how long wait times affect recurrence rates. Hugs to all of you!

It seems to be the norm around here. I was told we don't even see the oncologist until 8 weeks or more after surgery I'm pretty laid back about it because due to many reasons I am refusing further treatments so I'm not in an all fired hurry to know. I maybe might learn the her-2 today at surgeon appt but I would bet anything they won't have oncotype.
-
dwiseley, no online portal with my health provider which really sucks.. where i live, online portals are not common unfortunately. Anyway hopefully dr tomorrow can give me some news!
-
Fingers crossed for you dear!

The oncotype is sent out and takes about 2 weeks to get back, but my oncologist ordered it. I don't know if a surgeon would do that in your circumstances, it depends on who's the central figure managing your care. I hope you get your hormone/HER2 status! Those tests usually don't take long.
-
My surgeon sent everything to my oncologist so he could order it. When I had my first oncologist appointment two weeks later he had my results and an appointmentset for me to go straight for a consult with the radiologist. Sorry your path has been bumpy.
-
I was told the same thing oncologist orders oncotype but they are cheap here and since I said no chemo they probably won't do it even to see.apparantly my province didn't even start paying for them until a few years ago.
My her-2 did come back negative today though so there's that.

Do you know the results yet, Joee77?
