    Mammos are never useless, dense breast tissue or not.  On the contrary, they are womens' powerful weapons in our fight against breast cancer as they contribute in the (early or later) detection and treatment of this disease.  Furthermore, there are many other screening methods designed especially for dense breast tissue such as MRI, contrast enhanced spectral mammo and even ultrasound (I personally have gone through all of them!).  I'm not a doctor but loss of appetite and some other of the general symptoms you experiencing lately may be due to the depression you mentioned and not at all to breast cancer.  Only ones who can confirm (or not) diagnoses are doctors so I wouldn't worry that much before even a doctor make such a diagnosis.  Sending benign wishes to you and wishing you the best of luck.
