Will radiated side implant settle into place?

I had my exchange last month and the dr did pocket work on the cancer/radiated side. He left it a little higher than the other side and says it will settle into place, lower to match, in about 3 months. Just curious if that will actually happen from anyone else's experience? I see no signs of lowering after 4 weeks.
