I have been put on exemestane now. ONC says I just couldn't handle the Ibrance/Faslodex combo anymore. Just way to strong even on the 75mg. Has anyone had any experience with this drug. I haven't heard or seen much info or topics about this.

Hi There! I have been on exemestane for four NED years now! I might be a little achy from it, but then again I'm 54 and like to beat myself up running, biking, hiking, etc. Other than that - no side effects that I know of. I think exemestane is generic aromasin.

Hi Neogirl, exemestane is a 'steroidal' aromatase inhibitor. Femara (letrozole) and Arimidex (anastrozole are non-steroidal aromatase inhibitors. So you may see some of the same side-effects as letrozole users. Or not. I took letrozole and Faslodex for a long time with only hot flashes to worry about.

I started Femara and Faslodex at the same time. I gained 7 pounds in the first few weeks. After that, no. Well yes, but it wasn't due to the drug. It was due to general laziness on my part.

The three months I was on exemestane I didn't gain any weight.

What I will say is that it gets harder to lose the weight. It doesn't come off as easily as it did when I was pre-menopausal. My onc said that's usual for women. When you want to lose the 4 pounds for a wedding it doesn't happen.
