Ovarian suppression

Options

I had my first zoladex shot 11 days ago. I am wondering how long it takes to shut down the ovaries. Will my dr make sure im suppressed? What happens if it doesnt suppress my ovaries? Is it often that the injections dont suppress ovaries? Sorry.. just getting concerned all of a sudden..

My doc said it takes up to 3 months. I started in Oct. 2017. Had blood tests for a couple of months. Got the go-ahead to switch from Tamoxifen to Exemestane in the spring. By summer, my estrogen levels started coming up again (spotting in August), and "came out" of menopause by the end of August per my blood tests. So, my last shot was a double-dose. We're hoping this will keep my ovaries suppressed.

Adelozier- Hello my friend! (Waving) I just had my first zoladex shot today after a 3 month break from Lupron. I also had blood work for the first few months to make sure it was working, even though I was on Tamoxifen, not an AI. Are you planning on doing AI? There is a chance for incomplete suppression, but I’m not sure how common it is. It stopped my periods in their tracks. They didn’t even return during the break.

    Hope you’re doing well.

Has anyone had their estrogen levels tested prior to going on ai while on zoladex or any other injections ? I insisted after I kput telling them that the shot was not suppressing me 4 weeks but only 3... I know my own body .... turns out I was right... dr was shocked and told me to staple ai eight away.. I feel like I'm always the one to have bad things happen like this .. so essentially ive had no protection again. anyone that this has happened to please feel free to reach out..

I am so tired of fighting drs
