So I posted this ~6mos ago:

'my biopsy was because of the patterns my calcs formed. What I cannot seem to find is any mention by anyone of new patterns of calcs, forming again, in the same location, after a benign biopsy that removed the original calc clusters. In other words, what percent of 6mos recalls go on to need repeat biopsy because of new calc clusters/lines on their repeat mammograms.'

Well, my 6mos re-imaging was just done. Interesting experience:

I had bilateral 3D mammo this time. I was told that because their billing is tied to bilateral I could not have a different test on each breast (one routine, one enhanced) even though my orders and provider notes and provider comments 6mos ago said I would be having different imaging on each side. Not sure what to call the enhanced version I had 6mos ago and did not have this time but it was a giant clamshell they manually clamped onto my affected breast last time.

So the new results this time show clustered clacifications in the area of the previous biopsy.

Now, after the previous biopsy they had told me they had counted my calcifications/clusters, imaged the core biopsy samples, and had removed all of the clusters during the biopsy. I even looked at my own images and counted them myself-OCD :-)

My assumption then is that these are new calcification clusters?

The resident dr met with me before I left this time, never used the word New, and only said:

'They are at the location of the previous biopsy so we know they are benign.'

IMO, no one knows if these presumably-new-clusters are benign because they have not been biopsied!

So, now I am to followup for routine imaging 1 year from now.
