Raw from itching

Has anyone used coconut oil or any other natural substance for external vaginal itching?

I have been on tamoxifen for two weeks and the itching has intensified over the last two days, even waking me up in the night.

It looks pretty raw down there. I hope it is ok to put something on at this point.

I've had external itching ever since, believe it or not, I had cataract surgery two years ago. No one can figure out why that happened.

I've been to four doctors, and one gave me a biopsy. No prescription they've recommend has helped, and some of them have been very expensive. The most "effective" has been over-the-counter Vagisil. All recommend not to scratch as it only makes things worse.

I haven't started hormone therapy yet, so don't know if it will make things even worse.

If you haven't seen a doctor, you probably should: a urologist or gyn.

If it's raw with broken skin, not sure I would put much on there. I would try to get into a GYN. Maybe gently place a very cold wet washcloth on there to stop the itching. Cold can temporarily break the itching cycle. Or try lukewarm baths, just dry really well after. Like a cool blow dryer. That's what we did when our daughter had irritation down there.

I cannot believe how bad the itching is. I completely understand why a woman would quit tamoxifen because of it . . . as in running screaming hair on fire away from it.

I have slathered coconut oil on a few times in the last half hour and have begged God for relief. Divine assistance is the only way I can imagine getting through this.

Seems to be calming down. I am praying to be able to go back to sleep . . .

It amazes me that itching can be bad enough to awaken someone from their sleep.

CK24 I found switching from a perfume soap to plain (Liveclean) made a world of difference in the itchy department. How your feeling better, God do I knows your pain down there!

Thanks, vampeyes, for the empathy. And thank you, gb2115 and viewfinder, for the advice to see a doctor.

I had my yearly physical today and the nurse practitioner called in a prescription for me for the itching. She does not think it is related to taking tamoxifen. I just hope it helps

This will sound weird... but diaper rash cream will help -- especially when you have to pee!!!! And Tucks wipes are also very soothing.
