Here I go again!

In mid July I went for my first ever mammogram (51 yrs). Was called back, had a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. Two weeks later had a core needle biopsy but never had a face to face discussion about my biopsy results nor received a report (long story for another time). I finally got word the mass was a fibroadenonma but with atypical cells and surgery was recommended.
Fast forward—I got into one of the best surgeons at a well known teaching hospital and who I admire for her professionalism, being an excellent surgeon and her honesty and bedside manner. She wanted to have her people redo the biopsy to ensure that an accurate core sample was made (I believe there was some discord with mammogram/ultrasound and biopsy results)
Had my biospy appointment yesterday and since the other clinic didn’t send full films (another long story) the technician redid the ultra sound finding another 0.7mm mass 1 cm away from my original 1.9 x1.8mm mass. Next thing I know my lymph nodes are being explored and the radiologist spent a long time with the technician probing my breast. My appointment was suppose to take 20 minutes but ended up 2 hours with 8 core samples taken.
I heard words like “you’ll want to take that out .... if the doctor wants to.” And when I tried to get anything out of her like joking how the mass looked like a flying “duck”, she had this sympathetic smile (I know the mass is irregular shaped and is microlobulated). She went on to say the doctor and the clinic do rounds together and that they communicate regularly with the doctor. I was told that the results will be back in 5 to 10 days.
This morning the surgeon’s office called to already make my appointment even though my results aren’t in yet. Now I have to wait until the 17 of October to find out what is going on. This summer was a total nightmare with my going to do tests and then playing the waiting game. I cried a lot back then but when I got the first results of b9, I totally relaxed. Now this has me up in arms again and I’m trying to stay strong. I hope this strange vibe I’m feeling isn’t a bad premonition. My husband keeps telling me not to worry until we get the results but this the only place that I feel people can understand what I’m going through. Sorry for the long rant.

I really find this is a great place to share and even just to vent. Waiting is really hard and you sound like a really strong woman. I'll be thinking of you, especially on the 17th.

Thank you for your kind words. I realized my measurements were wrong. They should be cm and I’m missing a third measurement but actually I can’t remember everything that was told to me over the phone. (I don’t have the pathology or radiology report—yet). Keeping my fingers crossed and hopefully my higher level of anxiety is all for nothing.
