Terrible hair loss before chemo

The tumor has been growing in me for weeks prior to diagnosis. Over the last several months, I’ve had TERRIBLE hair loss. Over 50%. I’m 41 so doctors roll their eyes at me saying it’s age. But the hair loss is the point of sweeping off the floor. Thyroid was checking and was ok. When I was finally diagnosed, it was 90% ER / 70% positive. My mom had cancer that was ER positive as well. Since my dmx, the hair loss has gotten insane. Has anyone had hair loss pre-chemo or around diagnosis time? Wondering if it’s hormone related?

If I had to guess, I'd say it's anxiety. If you were on birth control or HRT and went off when diagnosed, it could be that as well. Weight loss and/or poor nutrition can also trigger hair loss. I'm sorry you're dealing with this, I was also diagnosed at 41 (I'm 42 now, it's been a long ten months) and I was doing everything I could to avert the effect of aging, then wham! cancer.
