Hi

My mammogram showed an area of micro calcification's in my left breast, i got called back for further mammograms and a fine needle biopsy six weeks ago. My biopsy came back as B9 however i have been advised this is inconsistent with what is showing on my mammogram and now have a further appointment for a large volume biopsy ... should i be concerned ?

I have never been a fan of fine needle biopsies. If that is what you had done, the amount of tissue may not have been adequate to make a diagnosis.

Was the biopsy ultrasound guided? Was the biopsy done with a very skinny needle and a syringe? Or was a spring loaded biopsy gun used that made a loud snapping noise when taking a sample (core biopsy)? Or did you have a stereotactic biopsy where you lie face down on a table with your breast placed into a mammo machine below the table for the biopsy? If you can post the biopsy procedure report, that should answer all these questions.

I there and thanks for the reply,

Yes it was an ultrasound guided biopsy I had, heard some clicking sounds when samples were taken. Results a week later were b9 but told by consultant that this was inconsistent with what was in my mammogram. This gave me the impression they were expecting to find something??

Having a large volume biopsy this Wednesday.
